7. Seas

As the small boat got ready to head into the seas, it was bound with the coconut ropes tightly, making sure that it would not fall apart in the giant waves of the seas. Those ropes were taught around the bamboo, forming a raft that would have two entrants at maximum. This raft would be pushed into the sea named the Cocoon bay, as it was being dragged against the sands of the Auge island.

“I never went on a voyage anywhere outside these little islands…” muttered a voice looking at the red sun peeping out of the horizon.

As the last taught was checked for a near-perfect tie, the rope tier exclaimed, “Let’s go! Before it’s too late!”

Both the men pushed the raft into the Cocoon Bay, guessing nobody would be able to see them in the wee hours of the day. Finally, getting the boat afloat, they boarded it, while being drapped in black capes. They paddled hard to move ahead, with sparkles floating out of the water.

The sun rose high above in the sky, almost midday, when the waves splashed against the deserted island. The dragging of the boat had created a small channel in the sand that allowed some water to enter deep into the land, and some stayed in a pothole created, with the water receding due to the low tide.

During that time of the day, a man walked on the sand, casually loitering. He saw that many potholes were created in the sand as the water had receded, just looking like shining craters. But suddenly, something reddish caught his eye.

At a distant puddle, something red in color did wash up to the shore. He brisked quickly towards the puddle, with a notion believing the red thing to be a crab or sort. But to his surprise that which he never expected to be on a shore, he found something that resembled a fruit, more like a passion fruit, but red in color like a tomato. He did pick the fruit and started examining it intently.

“A fruit, other than the coconut on the sea shore? And that too in a puddle of low tide? Did it float on the water and get washed up on this shore?” He exclaimed.

He continued, “Moreover, it seems to be a fruit from some other nation. May be from Pays Profond? Or, from Terrain Sud? But I have never seen this in the Auge. Perhaps, even the jungles of Auge do not produce such fruit. It’s somewhat impossible to find something like this.”
